In June 2001, Unitech Communications Ltd., the new branch office of Unitech Networks in Taipei started its operation officially and Mr. Phil Zen is appointed as General Manager, Sales and Marketing in the Taipei office. With his rich experience in the industry, Phil will be responsible for Unitech Networks' development in Taipei and identifying new business opportunities. Prior to joining Unitech Networks, Phil had worked for UUNet, Taiwan.
Mr. Alex Chan, CEO of Unitech Networks revealed that at the moment of liberalization of the Telco business, the establishment of Taipei office was indeed a milestone of the group which indicated stepping forward of the business. As for the reason of choosing Taipei as the location of the new office, Mr. Chan believed that the potential of the Taiwan market is huge. Along with the liberalization of local telco market, demand for various high quality solutions would increase. It is a golden business opportunity for Unitech Networks to inflow its over-the-years experience in deploying Internet infrastructure across the region to Taiwan market, such as VoIP and Data Centre establishment and so on.
